South Yarra boasts some of Melbourne’s most significant and historically-rich properties. Originally established during the 1840s, the area has fine examples of various Victorian and Edwardian styles, Art Deco and pre and post-war homes. Apartment construction began in earnest during the 1930s and to this day the area offers some of Melbourne’s most coveted Art Deco apartments in and around the Yarra River.
There are 4 train lines that stop at South Yarra Station: Pakenham, Cranbourne, Frankston and Sandringham. A second station in Hawkesburn Villages receives the Pakenham, Cranbourne and Frankston lines. The tram routes 58, 72 and 78 also service South Yarra. If public transport isn’t your thing, you can walk, cycle or skate along the many paths into the city.
The most famous Melbourne park would have to be the Royal Botanical Gardens bordered by the Yarra River, Anderson Street, Domain Road and St Kilda Road. It is here that the Government House resides. Summertime sees the Gardens host various events such as the Moonlight Cinemas and various performances that usually include a Shakespearean play. Fawkner Park also resides in South Yarra.
There is no shortage of prestigious schools and educational institutions in the South Yarra area, with the Melbourne Girls Grammar School, Melbourne Grammar, Christchurch Grammar, Melbourne High School and South Yarra Primary all in the vicinity.
Domain Road is popular on weekends for coffee, often attracting the weekend runners or cyclists, while Toorak Road and various side streets also cater to the caffeine crowd. We also couldn’t forget Chapel Street – which some may argue, is the place to be seen. Put on your activewear or bring your pooch along for the best breakfast and brew in the city.

South Yarra offers a plethora of activities for singles, couples and families alike. From rich shopping experiences down the famous Chapel Street, to cycling along the picturesque Yarra River into the CBD and the magical Botanical Gardens; it has something for everyone.
Dining is well catered for along both Toorak Road and Chapel Street and breakfast on Domain Road is a must, as is the famous Tan, which refers to the running paths around the Botanical Gardens.
Perfect for a coffee catch-up or meeting up for a run on the corner of Anderson Street and Alexandra Avenue, South Yarra offers the best that Melbourne has to offer.

As the leading buyer’s agent in Melbourne, Tonya Davidson was awarded Buyers’ Agent of the Year for the 2022 and 2023 Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) Excellence Awards. This was awarded in recognition of her significant successes and initiatives within Property Advocacy and her commitment to going above and beyond for her clients.
We engaged Davidson Property Advocates to help us purchase a family home in a specific area of Stonnington after initially trying to secure one on our own. Tonya’s knowledge, long standing relationships, attention to detail, interest in getting to know us and our requirements and her determination to find us the perfect home was invaluable.
She moved swiftly to arrange inspections and complete her due diligence on any properties that were of interest and we managed to find the perfect home in a short period of time and stress free! We would have no heisitsrions in engaging Davidson property advocates again for any property purchase or sales we have in the future.
Tonya was a wonderful help in finding me an apartment in this extremely difficult time. She was professional but friendly and I really enjoyed the experience of finding the right apartment. She listened to exactly what I required and found the perfect apartment for me that ticked all the boxes.
Tonya was the reason that I was successful in purchasing my ideal home and if it wasn’t for her help I would probably have had to wait until next year due to Covid 19.I would highly recommend her!
Tonya is an outstanding advocate. The role is a tricky one: you need a rare mix of being able to have the ‘soft skills’ of empathy and an understanding what the client wants but also the ‘hard skills’ of negotiation.
Tonya is simply amazing and does both of these things with ease! She also has an ability to help you clarify what is important which means you really can focus on what is valuable. This only strengthens your negotiating position.
